the reason for this is that the cold gives our hart a more energetic workout dr angela pepdjonovic from the hospital for special surgury in new york explained why she said your hart has to work a little bit harder to pump blood around your body in the cold this can help to boost your endurance over time drpepdjonovic said coldweather workouts can help the body burn caloriies at a faster rate she said as your body is required to work harder to maintane its core temperature you actually increase your calory burn by excersising in the cold

physical activity in cold temperatures can boost our metabloism which helps us lose weight in the cold our metabloism slows down so we can preserve fat and keep warm another benfit is that being in natural light helps to reduce our stress this is especially so for people who suffer from seasonal afective disorder sad this is a type of depression caused by the shorter darker days of winter it is more common in people who live far from the equator

scientists say they have had a converstation with a whale they also say the chat could help them to one day talk to aliens the scientists are from the university of california the alaska whale foundashun and setisearch for extraterestrial intelligence the three organizashuns teamed up and spoke to a humpback whale named twain

they spoke to her in humpback language for 20 minutes their converstation took place after the scientists sent a contact call into the ocean off the coast of alaska twain heard the call and responded she swam to the research boat and chated seti said it was the first ever comunication between humans and humpback whales the scientists say their converstation with twain was not a deep one professor brenda mccowansaid it was more like a series of greetings

whales use contact calls to let other whales know where they are the scientists made the same call 36 times over a 20 minute period each time twain responded by calling back she even matched the intervals between each call the reseachers made professor mccowan told the business insider website that her research could make it easier to talk to aliens she said there are diverse intelligences on this planet by studying them we can beter understand what an alien intelligence might be like because they are not going to be exactly like ours

british people are big tea drinkers it is a tradtion in britain to drink tea for different occassions and reasons people have it for breakfast for when guests visit and for tea breaks at work people even have a cuppa when they talk about their personal problms however research from the tea grop shows that herbal fruit and other teas have becme more popular than traditonal english breakfast tea

reseachers conducted a survey of more than 2000 tea lovers over half of people said their favourite tea was not the traditonal variety over a fifth of people chose green tea as their favourite brew just over 20 per cent said earl grey was their number one sales of traditonal tea in the uk have been declining three years ago a survey found that 54 per cent of britons preferred english breakfast tea the new research shows that breakfast tea is likely to continue to decline in popularity

the reseachers found many other things about tea drinking habits in the uk the biggest reason for drinking tea was to relax a quarter of britons drink up to 10 cups a day brits seem to love milky and sugary tea around 85 per cent of people who drink earl grey and english breakfast put milk in it nearly 45 per cent of people sweeten their tea with sugar amazingly people with a sweet tooth put three teaspoons of sugar in their cup

Text 4: Scientists believe dinosaurs sounded like birds

dinosaurs dissapeared 65 million years ago so we dont really know what they sounded like of course there are many movies with dinosaurs making all kinds of roars screeches and screams however these noises are just gesses that movie directors make about how dinosaurs sounded a new discovory has given scientists a better idea of the kinds of sounds dinosaurs made

the scientists examined a rare fossil it was from a spiky armoured dinosaur called an ankylosaur the fossil is around 78 million years old it includes a record of the ankylosaur's voice box it is the worlds oldest fossil of a voice box the scientists believe the shape of the creatures voice box means it probalymade birdlike sounds the research was led by professor junki yoshida a dinosaur reseacher at the fukushima museum in japan

dr yoshida did many tests on the shape of the fossilized voice box he compared it with the voice box of dozens of birds crocodiles lizards and turtles they now have a good idea of what the muscles around the voice box looked like the muscles controlled the windpipe and sounds of the voice box yoshidasresearch may mean that movies like jurassic park got it wrong millions of years ago the tyrannosaurus rex probaly made more of a tweeting sound like a bird hollywood may have to change its scary roars and growls in future dinosaur films to a tweettweet sound
